The first stage of the scientific process is observation. One cannot "follow the science" while also ignoring observable anecdotal evidence that might be challenging their hypothesis. If they are, then they are not following the scientific process. And that should give a person pause; and that person should ponder why they are ignoring the scientific process, when they claim to follow it.
